Summary

Slipper bearings, also known as tilted pad thrust bearings can support large loads by setting up a pressure gradient within a narrow passage. It consists of a horizontal plate moving with a velocity U relative to another plate at a slight inclination to produce a Couette flow in the gap. Analytical solutions are available for the pressure distribution within the gap. This configuration is simulated using the one cell model in CFD-ACE+ and compared with the analytical solution.
