VPS Explicit - Modelling of Damage and Fracture in PAM-CRASH/-SAFE


Description

Due to the increased usage of high-strength steel, aluminum and magnesium alloys, the probability of material failure during a crash event has grown. The simulation of such phenomena by Finite-Element Methods however is a great challenge and ESI has, together with its partners, developed validated methods and has implemented them into VPS/PAM-CRASH. The course intends to familiarize the attendees with these methods.

Audience

Users of PAM-CRASH/-SAFE who need to model damage and failure in more detail.

Objectives

Better understand and use the damage and failure models in PAM-CRASH/-SAFE.

Prerequisites

The participation in a basic PAM-CRASH course or comparable knowledge, and preferably the attendance of the course ‘VPS Explicit - Material Models in PAM-CRASH/-SAFE’.

 

This training requires at least 4 participants.

  • Historic Overview, Classification, Terminology
  • General Theory - Failure Criteria, Instability, Damage Mechanics, Mesh Dependency
  • Standard Models - Plastic Strain, Thickening/Thinning, FLD, Damage Mechanics
  • Specialized Models - Kolmogrov-Dell, Johnson-Cook, MATFEM-Model, Hill-Stören-Rice, EWK-Model, ESI Glas Model, Gurson Model
