Visual-Environment 15.5  is an open architecture CAE platform that continuously expands its capability to enable smart Virtual Prototyping.  It provides one single environment that encompasses the complete workflow for realistic simulation-based design. It covers all of the activities of a CAE engineer, starting from interfacing to CAD formats, CAD cleanup, meshing, assembling the model, model setup and post-processing, using a single core extendable compute model. It further provides integrated simulation tools to automate tasks through scripts, macros and CAE processes across multiple CAE domains.

Release Highlights:

• Possibility to create a thermal simulation of the powder bed process case in Visual-AM. Numerical solution can be based on a new solver that improves CPU time performance, overall scalability and admissible model size.

• Within Visual-Cast, enhancements in HPDC Machine Selection and Gravity Casting (QuikCAST) workflows and implementation of NADCA formulation details, constituting a minor release this version.

• A dedicated GUI to support Multiple Excitations for the CEM-TD Solver in Visual-CEM.  

• Adjoint Optimization in Visual-CFD, which can be used to compute sensitivity map or run full shape optimization cycle. Currently, it is only available for steady-state, cold flow simulations and for laminar or turbulent flows (S-A model only).

• Within Visual-Crash PAM, a SSR Checker which is a diagnostic tool to quickly check the quality of the solid mesh generated in a Shell-Solid Remeshing setup. CATGEN Generator to quickly visualize, manipulate and generate _CATGEN.erfh5 files is also provided.

• Visual-FORM, in its first official release, supporting automatic ply mesh creation. In Visual-RTM, support for detecting Initial Penetration between Mold and Gap (CRTM) apart from other updates.

• A Model Summary that serves as a quick way to check the model set-up and can be helpful to compare several models within Visual-Machining.

• Continued CAD import capabilities in Visual-Mesh, with CATIA V5 (6R1019) supported on Windows. New updates include Element Morph using Scale and Translate.

• Within Visual-Seat, the completion of several ways of establishing the performance of an automotive seat and within Visual-Seat Aero, the handling of aero pilots seats by adding to the performance processes (HIC, pitch and roll ...) an easy way to build quickly the seat model with a minimum of information.

• Improvements in visualization of RCCM/ASME results in Visual-SYSTUS.

• Improved support for MAC, COMAC, curve plotting and improvements in Import/ Plot performance and Template save/restore among other updates benefitting several domains within Visual-Viewer.

• Enhancements in Gravity, Holding and Joining advisors within Visual-Assembly and support for Grain Structure Modeling (CAFE) and New Nitsche Contact Formulation including friction in Visual-Weld.

• Customary updates in modules such as Visual-Crash Dyna and others.

• VE 15.5.1 patch: Registration of some folders for LS-DYNA to VPS conversion were missed in VE 15.5. This resulted in skipping execution of Python functions mapped for these folders. This has now been fixed and all folders for LS-DYNA entities are now supported for script based conversion.

NOTE: If the version is installed in default location ("C:\Program Files\ESI Group\Visual-Environment\15.5") shortcut creation from the application manager will not work.
