VPS Explicit - Airbag Modeling

Learn about and understand the basic aspects of airbag modeling. Learn to set up a simple Uniform Pressure airbag, how to add the definitions for gas dynamics (FPM) and analyze the results. Learn how to ensure your model accuracy by learning about the best modeling guidelines and practices.
Audience
Engineers who have already gathered experience in crash and airbag design.
概要

For simulation in vehicle safety, the use of airbag models has been standard for a long time. In most cases, models defined with the uniform-pressure option are sufficient. The growing requirements for out-of-position load cases, the deployment of side airbags, and the investigation of the opening behavior of cover flaps make it essential to enable a numerical description of the gas dynamics inside the airbag. This is where the Finite Point Method (FPM), a CFD method developed by ESI, comes into play. Participants will learn the basics as well as possible procedures for modeling airbag systems. Theory and practical applications introduce the function and use of the individual VPS/PAM-SAFE options. The course covers the construction of simple, basic airbag models up to the extension of the models to be able to represent the flow behavior of the airbag gas in detail. Visual-CRASH for PAM and Visual-Viewer are used for pre-and post-processing.
