State of the art computer aided coupled multiphysics simulation tools can be advantageous in the understanding and design of industrial processes. This paper presents such a tool for electric steelmaking, metallurgical treatment, material property control, magnetic stirring and braking, induction heating, surface hardening, and welding. The calculations are based on coupling microscopic thermodynamic material structure modeling with macroscopic temperature, flow and electrodynamic eddy current skin effect analyses using finite element methods implemented for serial and multiprocessor computer environments. The paper describes theory and results on industrial models.
