Composites
Introduction

While a traditional Electric Vehicle Gearbox is often a conventional electric transmission housing made of aluminium - key benefits can come of using composites. Virtual Manufacturing allows to substitute aluminium by a housing made from fibre reinforced thermoplastics.

The design consists on an optimized organo-sheet layer and UD-Tapes placement, then ribs over-molding by injection process. Stamping and injection molding simulation are used to assess and optimize the manufacturability.

While Lightweight design is often limited due its cost ; its implementation allows to save up to 30% of the weight. In this webinar ESI partners with ARRK to show you how you can use composites and optimize the manufacturing process with the help of virtual prototyping.
