PAM-FORM - Composites Basic Training

Understand material models for dry textiles or prepregs. Be able to model, analyze results and optimize through simulation standard forming / thermoforming processes. Be able to identify required data and determine proper assumptions for simulations.

This training is meant for engineers responsible for designing manufacturing processes such as thermoforming of prepreg or draping of dry textiles. This training relies on PowerPoint presentation and practical use cases executed on workstation. This training will allow the trainee to confidently create simulation models.

Day 1 – Physics and GUI Description

  • Introduction on physics, modeling, material requirements
  • Elementary test simulation
  • Explanation of required input parameters: Material characterization tests
  • Single layer forming simulation.
  • Multi-layer forming simulation.
  • Post-processing and presentation of results

Day 2 – Practical Exercises

  • Exercises (selection of these will be used in the training):
    • Multi-stage simulation (gravity, forming)
    • Diaphragm simulations.
    • Flattening tool: Initial flat pattern optimization
    • Thermoforming simulation of organosheets
    • Doubts and requests
    • Trim Press Forming
    • Plastic Blow Forming
